Philadelphia Eagles quarterback managed to get off to a spectacular start in the 2019 NFL season. Regardless, he knows he will have his hands full against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

Despite their loss, the Falcons proved to be extremely stingy against the pass in Week 1. According to Jeff Skversky of 6abc, Wentz is expecting them to bring that same energy.

Carson Wentz says he's telling himself this week to be “patient” with the offense vs Atlanta and wait for things to open

Wentz says it will be a “chess match” vs Falcons D which allowed an NFL low 97 yards passing week 1

Atlanta's offense was nothing short of abysmal against the Minnesota Vikings in the season opener, however, the defense did manage to show plenty of promise in the passing game. It was not long before the Vikings suddenly abandoned the pass altogether and opted to just run it down the Falcons throat. As a result, running back Dalvin Cook finished the game with 111 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.

The Eagles were able to light up the scoreboard thanks to a couple of 50-yard bombs from Wentz to wide receiver DeSean Jackson. He finished the game completing 28-of-39 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns. Their efforts have seemingly set a precedent for what to expect from this offense in the 2019 campaign.

Of course, Wentz's comments suggest that they may need to take a more methodical approach this time around versus Atlanta given their recent showing on defense. Philadelphia could very well opt to put an emphasis on establishing a strong run game like Minnesota did.
