The Philadelphia Eagles have spent much of the offseason adding pieces to the puzzle even after winning Super Bowl LII. It has seen the front office add several proven players to the mix to beef up the roster on both sides of the ball.

One of the areas that the team has focused on bringing aboard more talent is along the defensive line. According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Eagles have gone through a visit with veteran defensive tackle Courtney Upshaw.

The 28-year-old has played six seasons in the league spending the first four with the Baltimore Ravens followed by the last two with the Atlanta Falcons. During that time, he has established himself as one of the more versatile defensive players in the league having played primarily at defensive tackle after taking the field at linebacker in each of his first four campaigns.

The interest in Upshaw likely sparks from the recent development with defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan being out for the next four to six months due to back surgery. This could put Jernigan out of the mix for the first several weeks of the regular season and without one of their primary contributors along the defensive line.

It has placed a larger onus on solidifying the middle of the front seven up front with an established player in as the team has brought aboard a few players to provide depth at the defensive tackle position such as Haloti Ngata. The addition of Upshaw would provide the team with another proven talent that could help fill the void left by Jernigan's potential absence.

This is something certainly to keep an eye on in the coming days as training camp is set to begin later this month. If Philadelphia believes that Jernigan will miss some time, Upshaw could see himself be put in the mix this offseason.
