The Philadelphia Eagles overcame a last-second attempt by the Atlanta Falcons to advance to this year's NFC Championship Game. Needless to say, offensive coordinator Frank Reich has done a spectacular job of adjusting the scheme to better fit quarterback Nick Foles.

However, Reich will certainly have his work cut out for him this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings. According to Turron Davenport of USA Today, he even referred to them as the best defense the Eagles will have faced all season:

“I think they are the best defense we’ve faced this year and I think one of the reasons why is they can get pressure with four and cover with seven,” Reich said. “Any time you can get pressure with four and cover with seven, that’s kind of been the key to our defensive success.”

Reich is hoping to get an earlier jump on the Vikings than they did last week against the Falcons.

“I think, like last week, we need to get in a rhythm. We need to stay in phase. … We have a challenge in front of us to be able to put together drives, find some big plays in those drives and be smart with the football,” Reich said.

“That’s the challenge of going up against one of the better defenses in the league. And so I think one thing is we have to scheme, and our players, we all together, have to ways to make a few chunk plays here and there.”

It is no secret that the Vikings boast one of the NFL's most formidable defenses. Aside from stars like defensive end Everson Griffen and cornerback Xavier Rhodes, Minnesota features a bevy of defensive playmakers at nearly every position.

That said, Foles will likely assume his usual game manager role as the Eagles try to grind out a win on the ground. Fortunately, they too possess one of the best defensive units in the league which will help give Reich and the offense the opportunity to get the win.
