The already-undermanned Philadelphia Eagles are a man down once more as left tackle Jason Peters is sidelined due to a toe injury. He will be placed on the team's injured reserve list and is expected to make his comeback several weeks from now.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported the situation via Twitter:

Jason Peters has been a staple in the Eagles' offensive line since the 2009 season. He was also a nine-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl LII champion in his 17-year playing career. His absence will leave a hole in the unit which also saw right guard Brandon Brooks rupture an Achilles tendon along with offensive tackle Andre Dillard who sustained a torn biceps injury during the offseason.

The Eagles' injury woes also caught up on the rest of the roster as veteran wideout DeSean Jackson missed the entire week of practice due to a hamstring injury while rookie pass-catcher Jalen Reagor is still on the team's injured reserve list after sustaining a ligament tear in his thumb. Another veteran receiver in Alshon Jeffery is still not ready to play and might be able to make his return in Week 5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sophomore wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is also listed as questionable while third-year cornerback Avonte Maddox and fellow defensive ace Trevor Williams are both ruled out of their coming game.

The undermanned Eagles will face another injury-riddled team in the San Francisco 49ers who are also playing without a handful of their key players. Despite the struggle, the Philly-based squad will still aim to gut it out and snag their first win of the season in Week 4 proceedings.
