As the Super Bowl approaches, starting Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan has sat out practice since last Friday as he attempts to recover from an illness. All indications point to Jernigan being a full-go on Sunday, but unfortunately for his teammates, the illness is spreading around the locker room.

As reported by ESPN's Tim McManus, cornerback Ronald Darby, running back Kenjon Barner, and linebacker Mychal Kendricks have all been struck by the bug. Darby and Jernigan missed Thursday's media availability, and Barner missed practice time last week as a result. Even head coach Doug Pederson has experienced the symptoms.

Kendricks shut down any concerns about the sickness impacting the Eagles as they take on the New England Patriots in Minneapolis:

“I'm getting over it right now. It's like a cold, dude. I don't know. The whole team has it, though… I don't think it had anything to do with us being out here. I think it started sometime last week. Something we've got to get through. We'll be fine. It's not that big of a deal.”

The Eagles' current 53-man roster comes into the Super Bowl fairly healthy, as Jernigan was the only player to miss practice on Wednesday. Despite the loss of All-Pro offensive tackle Jason Peters and MVP-hopeful Carson Wentz, Philly continued to rack up wins through the end of the regular season and into the postseason.

Just like their home playoff games against the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings, the Eagles are underdogs in Super Bowl LII.
