Following the first Super Bowl win in franchise history, the Philadelphia Eagles have been steadily strengthening their roster this offseason. The front office has continued to add more depth on both sides of the ball to make another push toward a deep playoff run.

One position where the Eagles have had a lot of talent over the last few seasons has been at running back, and they're set to add further to it. According to Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia has agreed to a new deal to bring back veteran running back Darren Sproles next season for his 14th campaign.

The 34-year-old saw his 2017 campaign end in disappointing fashion as he broke his right arm and tore his ACL on the same play in Week 3 against the New York Giants. He finished the season with 61 rushing yards on 15 carries along with 73 receiving yards on seven receptions, which were each career-low marks in the last decade.

In his absence, the Eagles continued to take the running back by committee approach that saw both LeGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi lead the way while Corey Clement also factored into the equation. Sproles has proven throughout his career that he is a versatile running back that has been a factor as a runner, receiver out of the backfield, and on special teams.

Sproles is currently eighth in career all-purpose yards with 19,155 that he could surpass Steve Smith (19,180), Marshall Faulk (19,190) and Tim Brown (19,682) next season.

The Eagles will likely look to lean on him in the special teams as a secondary option in the offense where he could be a change-of-pace running back that has great speed that could allow for him to remain a game-changer. He will also likely continue to be utilized in the same fashion has been throughout his career to help provide an additional spark to the already-stacked backfield in Philadelphia.
