Coming off their first Super Bowl win in franchise history, the Philadelphia Eagles have a few orders of business to take care of ahead of them over the offseason. One of which involves the front office deciding what to do with the pending free agency of veteran tight end Trey Burton.

Burton has completed his one-year, $2.7 million this past season and looks to be aiming to cash in on his raised stock on the open market. According to Matt Lombardo of the NJ Advance Media, the Eagles have already presented the 26-year-old with an offer but it doesn't appear it will be enough to keep him from seriously exploring his options elsewhere.

The Eagles have made an offer that Burton “didn't consider serious,” and unless the offer is sweetened, Burton likely will sign with another team, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told NJ Advance Media.

The fifth-year veteran is coming off a productive campaign as the third-string tight end hauling in 23 catches on 30 targets for 248 receiving yards and a career-high five touchdowns. This includes seven games with multiple catches highlighted by his season-high five catches for 71 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams. His biggest play of the season came in Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots on the “Philly Special” trick play that saw him toss a touchdown pass on 4th and goal to quarterback Nick Foles late in the second quarter.

Although there is still time for the Eagles to increase the offer to Burton, he has the opportunity to see what other options may lie out there on the free agent market. There could be the chance to compete to be a full-time starter for another team, which is something he won't be able to do in Philadelphia with Zach Ertz being one of the primary options in the passing game.

Things could certainly change on this front in the negotiation process over the next couple of weeks ahead of free agency, but it looks to be that Burton's departure is imminent.
