The Atlanta Falcons are coming off of a disappointing 2018 campaign in which they won just seven games and missed the playoffs, and owner Arthur Blank thinks that an aging offensive line could be one of the reasons for the lackluster season.

That's why Blank says that the Falcons will be looking to address their offensive line unit in the NFL Draft later this month:

“I think the needs in the draft are exactly the same as going into free agency: I think we've got to get younger on the offensive line,” Blank said, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. “We made some improvements, in that regard, in free agency, but we're looking at that in the draft.”

Atlanta's offense was hardly bad this past year, as the Falcons ranked sixth in the league in total offense and placed 10th in points per game, but their running game ranked just 27th in the league and Atlanta also gave up 42 sacks.

Blank added that the Falcons also need to do some work along their defensive front:

“I think the defensive line continues to be a need for us,” he said. “And we'll look at other particular positions both on defense and, selectively, on offense as well.”

Atlanta ranked a miserable 28th in total defense in 2018 and allowed 26.4 points per game, good for 25th in the NFL. The Falcons also had difficulty getting to the quarterback, registering just 37 sacks as a team.

Blank's club had made back-to-back playoff appearances before this past season, including the 2016-17 campaign in which Atlanta made it all the way to the Super Bowl before famously blowing a 25-point lead in a 34-28 loss to the New England Patriots.
