The Atlanta Falcons have told Julio Jones they’re not giving him the improved contract he wants this offseason. And now, the superstar wideout plans to make the team know what he feels about that decision.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Jones plans to continue his holdout through to training camp.

Falcons WR Julio Jones does not plan to report to camp and he is comfortable sitting out the entire time, sources said. He is still seeking a contract adjustment, while the team made clear to him they did not plan to give him one. He appears resolute in his mindset.

Jones has sat out the entire offseason in an effort to get the Falcons to improve his current deal, which now sees him underpaid compared to the rest of the highest-earning wide receivers in the league. Jones still has three more years on his current deal which will pay him just $10.5 million this season.

However, the Falcons have told him they don’t have any money budgeted to conduct a renegotiation on his contract as they turn their focus toward handing out extensions to their other young stars. Although, they have promised to renegotiate Jones’ deal next offseason.

But apparently, that promise wasn’t enough to satisfy Jones, who remains steadfast in his belief that he deserves to be paid like one of the elite wideouts in the game. He’s certainly continued to play like one, as his production proves. Jones has topped 1,400 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons.

The question now is if Jones can continue that sort of elite production this year without the benefit of going to training camp.
