Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones has made his feelings about his current contract very clear. The All-Pro wideout sat out offseason workouts in hopes of getting a much-improved deal. However, he’s not going to get it-this year, at least.

According to Jeff Schultz of The Athletic, the Falcons have informed Jones that they do not plan on giving him a raise before the 2018 season. Although, they still hope Jones reports for training camp next week.

The Falcons explained to Jones that they do not have the money budgeted for a renegotiation with him in 2018. Instead, the team is focused on handing out extensions to defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, left tackle Jake Matthews and safety Ricardo Allen.

Jones is just two years into a five-year, $71.25 million contract extension he signed in 2015 and will earn $10.5 million in base salary this season.

Jones has been one of the most productive receivers in the entire league over the last few years. He’s averaged over 100 catches and has had at least 1,400 receiving yards over the last four seasons. However, his annual salary of $14.2 million puts him way down in ninth among wideouts.

The Falcons have never renegotiated a contract with more than a year remaining, as Schultz points out. However, they have promised Jones that they will renegotiate after this season.

Jones recently attended Matt Ryan’s pre-draft workout along with other teammates. But it remains to be seen if that promise of a renegotiation next offseason will be enough to convince Jones to report to camp.
