When everyone was clamoring to select Eric Ebron in fantasy drafts this season, they expected to be getting a consistent option at tight end. Just four games into the season, the Indianapolis Colts tight end has failed to be a viable option in fantasy football.

Last year, Ebron had a career year with 66 receptions for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns in his first season in Indianapolis. Prior to his arrival to the Colts, Ebron spent four seasons with the Detroit Lions.

During his tenure with the Lions, the receiving tight end failed to adjust to the NFL.  The Lions used the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft but he never panned out. But after he began catching passes from Andrew Luck in 2018, Ebron showed that he could be a dangerous weapon in an offense.

Again, the athletic tight end caught a career-high 66 receptions, 750 yards, and 13 touchdowns in 2018. However, with Luck retiring suddenly this offseason, Jacoby Brissett became the starter at quarterback.

With Brissett as the starter, Indianapolis has become run-oriented on the offense side of the ball. Thus, giving Ebron fewer opportunities to be the same version of himself that took the field in 2018.

Even with that being said, it isn't time just yet to give up on the Colts tight end in fantasy. As disappointing as he's been this season, there are better weeks ahead for the receiving threat.

Over the first three weeks, Ebron hasn't done much and has combined for 32.8 fantasy points with just eight receptions for 128 yards and two scores. By having those numbers, Ebron is currently the 14th highest scoring tight end in fantasy to begin the season.

Similarly to recent seasons, the tight end position is scarce; with Zach Ertz, Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Evan Engram being the must-start options at the position. Therefore, now is not the time to sell on Ebron.

Unless you are in a four or six-team league, there aren't going to be many options that have more potential than the Colts pass-catcher. Additionally, Ebron has a favorable matchup coming into Week 5.

The Colts will go on a road trip to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Luckily for Ebron, the Chiefs defense has surrendered 32 receptions to tight ends this season (most in the NFL).

Now, if Ebron is unable to perform well versus the Chiefs, then maybe you can consider moving on from him.
