The Denver Nuggets will be without their young and promising shooting guard Gary Harris for the start of this coming season.

As reported by The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski, incoming third-year pro will be sidelined for four to six weeks due to a partially torn groin muscle.

The 22-year-old flourished under head coach Mike Malone‘s system last season as he established himself as a 3-and-D type of player who enjoyed his role of defending the big name guards of the league. Last season, he averaged a very solid 12.3 points, along with 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 32.1 minutes per game.

His absence is certainly a big blow to the Mile-High city team as they expected the Michigan State alum to be their starter and log major minutes. Though they still have depth at the two guard spot with Will Barton and rookies Jamal Murray and Malik Beasley, the defensive intensity Harris brings will be missed by the Nuggets while he's out.

If one of them cannot step up while the 19th overall pick of the 2014 draft is recovering, it will put more pressure on Emmanuel Mudiay to speed up on the improvement of his defense and at the same time continue to run the offense.

The team now needs to plan ahead and take a cautious approach with his injury, as the timetable for recovery may take longer since groin injuries are always tricky.
