Eli Manning is not the only Eli to be dominating news in regard to the New York Giants. Cornerback Eli Apple, who has come under a ton of fire over the recent weeks, has also seen his name in the headlines.

Of course, because 2017, he claims it all to be fake news.

For those unaware, there were reports that stated Eli Apple nearly walked out on the Giants after being verbally ripped to shreds during a film session. True or not, it continued the narrative — or idea of one — that Apple is a soft player.

Apple calls this complete nonsense. So much so, in fact, he refuses to address it.

“I’m not going to talk about false reports,” Apple said, via John Healy of the New York Daily News.

He also went on to talk about not playing on Thanksgiving, after being told he would.

“You’re in there a little bit, and they tell you you’re going to play,” Apple said. “Then out of nowhere they tell you you’re not going to play.”

For whatever it is worth, this is just another thing the Giants are dealing with during a debacle of a season. With Manning's benching taking over all the headlines now, the Apple stuff should likely go a bit more under-the-radar. Still, it isn't great that the former first-round NFL Draft pick is building up a reputation, via the media and/or himself, this unflattering.

He's still young and talented enough to turn it around, though.

Will that turnaround come in New York?
