New York Giants cornerback Eli Apple, who has recently been under fire for not trying to tackle opponents, nearly walked away from the team following some hurt feelings.

Basically, according to the famed New York Post, the report states that Apple’s lack of effort caused him to take a verbal beating when the team studied film, and he threatened to leave the team.

This is less than ideal. A grown man had his feeling hurt over what many will believe to be deserved complaints, and instead of owning them, he threatens to take his ball and go home.

Thing is, the Giants are in a bit of a pickle. Eli Apple, a former first-round NFL Draft pick, is expected to see an increased workload due to Janoris Jenkins suffering from an ankle injury. The storied National Football League franchise, at least for the time being, has almost no choice but to placate the defensive back until the season's end.

Apple was a legit great college player. There was good reason for him being a first-round selection just a couple of years ago. However, since entering the pro ranks, he has been a mild disappoint. While not at the level of being considered a full bust, he hasn't exactly been good enough to remain a starter on what is now an awful team.

If you want to make the leap, it wouldn't be crazy to consider this season being Eli's last in the … Big Apple.

Bad. Dad. Jokes. Forever.

Fight me, if you must.
