The New York Giants tumultuous 2017 NFL season continues to circulate down the drain. The Giants received major backlash for their benching of veteran quarterback Eli Manning earlier this week in favor of backup quarterback Geno Smith

However, the unfortunate saga between Manning and the Giants just got even more bizarre. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, head coach Ben McAdoo had the two-time Super Bowl champion running the scout team in practice:

“Eli ran it and Davis ran it,” McAdoo said.

Needless to say, even his own teammates found it a bit strange to see Manning going against the first-team defense.

“It was weird. Definitely weird,” offensive lineman Justin Pugh said. “I know he handled himself like a true professional and I would expect nothing less from him.”

This is just the latest example of Manning's selflessness really knowing no bounds. The former two-time Super Bowl MVP was clearly distraught with the notion of sitting out this week versus the Oakland Raiders. However, he has since been relegated to simulating Raiders quarterback Derek Carr for their upcoming matchup.

Meanwhile, fans are still left wondering what it is the Giants are trying to accomplish by giving the nod to quarterback Geno Smith, who has had more than enough time to prove himself as a starter in this league. Whatever the case, Manning's new role on the team is just another reason for the looming changes in the Big Apple.
