Retirement Eli Manning has been a vibe on Twitter. The guy hardly said anything during his playing days, although dealing with the New York media couldn't have been easy. But post-playing days Eli has been a delight on social media.

On Thursday, Manning climbed the top rope, pumped up the fans, and jumped off, landing a verbal attack on Chris Simms to a degree that feels just slightly unnecessary, yet hilarious.

How do you comeback from that if you're Chris Simms? Thankfully we have the answer to that.

THE COUNTER PUNCH BY SIMMS! Still, not as good as Eli Manning's original tweet which seemingly came from out of nowhere.

This is the same Chris Simms who literally almost died on the football field in 2006 after attempting to gut it out after puncturing his spleen. No, seriously, he almost died that day in Carolina. Imagine thinking you have cracked ribs and getting rushed to the hospital only for the doctor to say, “Yea the human body has 14 pints of blood. He's got 9 internally right now.” Not exactly the news you want to hear.

HAS THE MAN NOT BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH ELI?

Simms took the jab in good humor, responding with the above tweet. Of course the reference being that his dad, Phil Simms, is the best Giants quarterback of all-time in his eyes.

It's a discussion worth having but let's table it for another day. On this Thursday, we celebrate Eli Manning's wit and humor on Twitter, a side of him that was not seen during his playing days very often.
