The New York Giants have opted to usher in the era of quarterback Daniel Jones heading into Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although the decision to replace quarterback Eli Manning hardly comes as any surprise, it seems tight end Evan Engram is still appreciative of his time under center.

Engram has emerged as one of the most talented, young tight ends in the NFL. He praised Manning for his help with his development, via the team's official Twitter:

“I wouldn’t be the player I am today without Eli Manning. He’s a brother for life and a true professional.”

Engram's comments are certainly understandable. The Giants made quite the investment when they took him with the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Fortunately, he was able to provide some immediate return after quickly establishing himself as one of Manning's favorite targets.

Engram finished his rookie campaign with 64 receptions for 722 receiving yards and six touchdowns. The 25-year-old has now picked up where he left off by hauling in 17 receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown through the first two games of the season while serving as Manning's safety net.

Despite all the recent changes under center, Engram is sure to maintain his integral role in the Giants' passing game. New York is still dealing with a depleted receiving corps heading into their matchup with Tampa Bay. Head coach Bruce Arians has already indicated that he is going to to do what he cane make Jones throw as much as possible.

It is safe to assume a solid portion of those passes will be intended for Engram.
