Before Aaron Rodgers was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, he was Brett Favre's backup for three years.

The Green Bay Packers drafted Rodgers back in 2005, but the eventual two-time MVP did not get to start under center until the 2008 campaign.

Could something similar occur with Daniel Jones in the Big Apple?

The New York Giants selected Jones with the sixth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft last month, but the general consensus is that Eli Manning will be the Giants' starting signal-caller this coming season.

Incoming wide receiver Golden Tate hopes Jones can follow the Rodgers path:

“We're hoping that he can respond to pressure,” Tate said of Jones on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “If Eli breaks a shoelace or something (and misses a play), he won't even miss a beat. The good news with Dan's situation is he is sitting right behind a Hall of Fame-type quarterback, so he is going to have an opportunity to learn some incredible tools that can help him in the future. I hope it's kind of like that Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers kind of situation eventually.”

Tate added that he has been impressed by Jones' arm strength, which is a rather interesting statement considering that Jones' lack of a big arm was one of the main knocks on him coming out of Duke.

The Giants have been heavily criticized for their decision to draft Jones over Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins, who ended up going to the Washington Redskins at No. 15.
