New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was once again not present for OTAs on Monday, per Ryan Dunleavy of NJ.com. That marks the fourth straight practice Beckham has missed after attending the first three OTAs.

Beckham’s continued absence from voluntary workouts could be a sign of his potential contract “showdown” with the Giants.

The star wide receiver is still waiting for a new long-term extension which is expected to make him the highest paid wide receiver in the entire league. While he hinted earlier in the offseason that he wouldn’t step onto the field without signing that extension, he had participated in the team’s offseason workout program prior to his recent string of absences.

While Beckham was a participant in the team’s first few OTAs, he has still been limited in what he can do physically as he remains on the road to recovery from ankle surgery which caused him to miss a large chunk of last season. Giants head coach Pat Shurmur recently said that Beckham is “pretty close” to being fully cleared.

But even if he does get cleared before mandatory minicamp which starts on June 12, it remains to be seen if Beckham will choose to attend or opt to continue his holdout until he gets his new deal.

The Giants reportedly want to make sure Beckham is fully recovered from that surgery before handing him such a massive deal. However, OBJ may not be willing to wait that long and could force the issue with his contract after initially playing nice with the team.
