New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was sidelined in Week 14 with a quad injury. It appears his status for the final stretch of the 2018 NFL season is still up in the air.

Beckham had been a limited participant in practice this week. According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, he may still have to miss some more time:

Odell said his quad is doing “much better.” He said he’s taking it a day at a time, not sure about his status for Sunday. What exactly is wrong, is it a contusion? “I don’t know … shit ain’t right.”

The update is certainly not an encouraging one. Beckham's injury was revealed when he was a limited participant during practice last week. As a result, he was ultimately forced to sit out against the Washington Redskins. Although he insists that the quad is feeling better, it is clear that it is still bothering him.

Beckham's absence would be sorely missed by the Giants. Despite their stellar outing versus Washington, the bulk of the offense could largely be attributed to the stellar performance of running back Saquon Barkley. Having him in the offense gives the passing game a much more explosive element. However, the Giants will need to tread carefully with their star wideout moving forward.

Although New York has managed to win two straight games, the prospect of them somehow winning the division is still a bit far-fetched. If they are officially eliminated from playoff contention this week, it would not make much sense for them to risk further injury to Beckham.
