The New York Giants may have a bright future thanks to an impressive crop of young offensive players that includes Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram, but right now, they are abysmal.

Entering their Week 13 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, the Giants are just 2-9 and are riding a seven-game losing streak, one that has New York fans clamoring for Pat Shurmur's firing as head coach.

But Shurmur says that he has seen some improvements from the club amidst all of the losing:

“At one point I used to feel that saying your team was young was an excuse,” Shurmur said, according to Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post. “It’s a descriptive term for this team. It’s important that they figure it out quickly. The good news is that even though it hasn’t been quantified with wins — and I get that it’s the reality of this business, it changes the opinion of everybody when you win — I’ve seen the improvements behind the scenes that are necessary as we reset this thing and move it forward.”

The problem is, Shurmur may not see the improvements he is talking about actually come to fruition in 2020.

Now in his second season at the helm in the Big Apple, Shurmur has gone just 7-20 during his time with the Giants. And while New York has certainly dealt with some injuries and really is a young football team, he has made plenty of decisions that have left many scratching their heads.

It's not like Shurmur has a great track record, either, as he went 9-23 during a two-year stint with the Cleveland Browns in 2011 and 2012.
