The New York Giants are amid a five-game skid and are desperate to get back into the win column. Ahead of Sunday's matchup against the New York Jets, Pat Shurmur sent a strong message to the team.

“Guys understand those mistakes are unacceptable and if individuals don’t get it corrected, they probably won’t be playing anymore,” said one player.

The second-year head coach preached accountability and realizes that his job could be in jeopardy if he continues to lose. A few players on the team share the same sentiment that the players have to begin to perform well to end the season.

“It’s time,” the player said. “There’s no more waiting around. It’s not about growing pains. It’s time to get it done.”

“He wants to win,” one player said. “You put in a lot of work. You lose time with your family, your wife. It’s like ‘[Shoot], if you’re doing that, you should want to do that for a reason and to win some games.’”

“It’s make it or break it for all of us,” the player said.

Currently, the Giants are 2-7 and are just one game out of last place in the NFC East. Fortunately, they will face a hapless Jets team in Week 10. But a loss to the Jets in a battle of the New York teams could heat up the seat for Shurmur.

In his second season with the Giants, Shurmur has an abysmal 7-18 record. It remains to be seen if New York has more patience with Shurmur than they did for Ben McAdoo.
