The New York Giants find themselves in an odd situation with Saquon Barkley. Not only is their superstar running back trying to return from a leg injury, but he's also dealing with the NFL's COVID-19 protocols.

According to Ian Rapoport, Saquon Barkley has tested positive for COVID-19, however, it's not all bad news. Apparently, he is one of several players on the Giants' roster re-testing to see if it was a false positive.

It sounds like Barkley has not had any symptoms, which bodes well for his chances of passing the test. We'll see what happens though, as it's been a rough go for the superstar running back lately. New York needs him back in the lineup if they hope to salvage their season.

Saquon Barkley has been on and off the field the last few seasons. When healthy, he is easily one of the most dynamic running backs in the league. Unfortunately, he has been unable to stay healthy and it's hurting the Giants overall.

Barkley is supposed to come back to the lineup relatively soon, but this COVID-19 situation has slowed things down for him and the Giants. So far this season, Saquon Barkley has played in just five games. He has 325 total yards from scrimmage along with three total touchdowns. As usual, Barkley performs well when he's on the field, but his presence has been sporadic.

Unfortunately for the Giants star running back, he can't catch a lucky break. According to Ian Rapoport and the Wire, Saquon Barkley (along with Xavier McKinney) has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

It's going to be a minute before we see Barkley hit the field again, which is a real shame for New York. This isn't a terrible roster by any means, it's just that the Giants have been dealing with multiple setbacks throughout the entire season.

Look for Barkley to take over the league once he returns to the field. Whenever that is, is truly unknown.
