Retired player and ESPN Analyst Kendrick Perkins thinks that Ja Morant is a top 5 point guard in the NBA after watching the Memphis Grizzlies point guard play against the Houston Rockets.

Ja Morant finished off with a team-high 26 points and 8 assists in Tuesday's 121-110 win over the Rockets.

Morant has been phenomenal this season averaging 17.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and a team-high 6.9 assists. The number 2 pick of the 2019 NBA draft has showcased that he's a top candidate for Rookie of the Year. Morant has led all rookies in scoring and assists this season despite only playing 29.5 minutes per game.

He has emerged as an electrifying player with his jaw-dropping athleticism and highlight-reel handles. He's won the Rookie of the Month award in all three months this season. It'll certainly be a challenge for Zion Williamson to compete with Morant for Rookie of the Year when returns on Thursday.

Morant has exceeded many critics' expectations this season and is a key reason why the Grizzlies have gone  7-2 ever since Christmas. They're currently on a six-game win streak with statement wins over the Los Angeles Clippers and the Rockets. It's their longest win streak since December of 2016.

Nonetheless, the Grizzlies are currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 19-22. They're seeking to make the playoffs for the first time in three years. They'll be hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night as they look to extend their win streak to seven.
