The Memphis Grizzlies and point guard Shelvin Mack are progressing toward hammering out a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Grizzlies have been looking to fortify their point guard depth, taking in consideration an injury-marred Mike Conley Jr., who missed most of last season.

Shelvin Mack is a true veteran, able to provide scoring from various areas of the floor, but still only a mediocre 3-point shooter, making only 32.6 percent of his shots from deep throughout his eight-year career.

The Butler product has played for five teams throughout his eight years in the league, seeing stops in Washington, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Utah, and most-recently Orlando, where he averaged 6.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists through 69 games.

His potential addition will give Memphis a solid backup for Conley while the journeyman will be tasked with guiding a lot of the young pieces in the roster.

The Grizzliers are in the middle of trying to rebuild while staying competitive. After the 2018 NBA Draft saw the franchise bring in the dynamic Jaren Jackson Jr., as well as a potential steal in Jevon Carter, things are starting to look up for Grind City yet again.

Only time will tell how much of an impact Mack makes next season.
