When Mike Conley retires from basketball, he will go down as one of the best players in Memphis Grizzlies basketball history, and he will also go down as one of the most popular.

Conley has been in the league for 11 years, and all of them have been in Memphis. He also has made it very clear that he has no plans on leaving.

“We take pride in what we’ve built in Memphis. The fans there, the community, they make us feel like family, and it's an easy decision for us to want to stay in Memphis and to be apart of this ride together and ride it out into the sunset however beautiful it is at the end. We are going to stick to it and be loyal and try to do as much as we can for as long as we can for this organization and city because we feel invested long term.”

Last year Conley had a heel injury that held him to playing only 12 games before undergoing season-ending surgery. He has dealt with more and more injuries the last few years, but when he is on the court, he is still one of the best in the league.

He still has three years left on his contract with the Grizzlies and based on his comments above once those years are up he will either retire or re-sign with the Grizzlies.

There is still a chance that the Grizzlies could decide to trade Conley, but with his commitment to see the team get better it would be very surprising if they decided to go that route.
