The Memphis Grizzlies fired head coach J.B. Bickerstaff on Thursday and point guard Mike Conley is confused by it.

On Wednesday, general manager Chris Wallace told reporters at his end-of-the-season press conference Bickerstaff was coming back. Then on Thursday, Bickerstaff was let go and Wallace was reassigned to another role.

The Grizzlies almost traded Conley at the February trade deadline. Memphis did ship center Marc Gasol. They sent him to the Toronto Raptors.

Conley had a nice bounce-back season in 2018-19 for Memphis. He averaged 21.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Conley only played in 12 games in 2017-18 because of a heel injury. It was nice to see the veteran guard play this season and get back to his old form. Now, the question is will Conley be back in Memphis next season. People expect the Grizzlies to trade Conley in the summer so they can start a full rebuild and build around young big man Jaren Jackson Jr.

Conley will make $32,511,623 next season. He signed a lucrative five-year, $152.6 million maximum contract extension with the Grizzlies in the summer of 2016.

All eyes will be on Conley this offseason.
