The Memphis Grizzlies have signed journeyman free agent guard Toney Douglas, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. The veteran shooter will make up for the losses of point guard Mike Conley Jr. and veteran swingman Vince Carter, who are recovering from injury.

The team will not need to make room for Douglas as a 16th spot has been added to the roster because of the hardship rule, given the Grizzlies have a total of six players down with injuries – two of them starters in Conley and Chandler Parsons.

Douglas is a proven shooter that can play either guard spot comfortably. This will be his seventh team in eight seasons in the league.

The Florida State alum last played with the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 steals coming off the bench.

While it's unlikely that he'll play massive minutes from the get-go, his presence will provide the experience necessary at the point guard position, with Wade Baldwin and Andrew Harrison being the only other candidates to run the point.

Toney Douglas' three-point shooting will address a vast need in the Grizzlies offense, as three of their best five three-point shooters are out with injuries.
