The Memphis Grizzlies are set to be without the services of star guard Mike Conley for an indefinite amount of time due to soreness in his left Achilles and heel.

It has drawn much concern from the fan base about the extent of the injury, including two young fans that asked Grizzlies star big man Marc Gasol about Conley's health prior to Saturday's game against the Houston Rockets.

Although it was a light-hearted moment, Gasol didn't sound too concerned about the outlook for the situation. Conley had been dealing with some soreness over the last couple of weeks and the decision to sit out was in order to prevent the injury from further lingering on.

Conley had started 12 of the Grizzlies' first 14 games this season where he was averaging  17.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists in 31.1 minutes. The 30-year-old's absence will present a huge void for Memphis to fill as he's been one of the league's underrated point guards throughout his 11 seasons.

The Grizzlies will need Gasol to step up into a more prominent role as a not only a scorer but also a playmaker. The 32-year-old is currently experiencing the best statistical campaign of his career averaging career highs with 20.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game.
