Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden thinks that safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is still figuring some things out after coming over from the Green Bay Packers.

Clinton-Dix was traded to Washington back in October in exchange for a fourth-round pick, but there have still been plenty of struggles for the Redskins' defense.

Of course, it hasn't helped that the team will be going on its fourth starting quarterback this season when Josh Johnson goes under center on Sunday.

But Gruden wants to continue to see improvement from Clinton-Dix, who is expected to continue to expand his role on the field.

From Matthew Paras of The Washington Times:

“He’s finding his way, really,” Gruden said when asked if Clinton-Dix has had the impact the Redskins expected. “It’s not easy, but he’s a veteran guy and understands different core concepts and coverages, but a lot of the things we do, we have different checks here and there … I think just from a communication issue, it’s getting better and better but it needs to get a lot better next week.”

While there has been inconsistency on defense, the main problem for the rest of the season will likely be the offense. The Redskins couldn't get anything going against the New York Giants in Week 15, and now they have to go up against the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend.

The good news? Washington is still in the playoff race due to its 6-7 record.

But at this point, it's going to take much-improved play in all phases for Gruden's group to make it back to the postseason.
