Atlanta Hawks big man Miles Plumlee will miss the remainder of this season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, according to an official injury report from the team.

Plumlee suffered cartilage damage in his knee during practice on March 11th. While it is a serious injury, the Hawks are expecting him back in time for next season's training camp.

Plumlee, now 30 years of age, made 18 appearances off the bench with the Hawks this season, racking up averages of 4.4 points on 66.7 percent shooting from the field, 2.2 rebounds and just under one assist (0.9) in 9.6 minutes per outing.

Atlanta Hawks center Miles Plumlee suffered a left knee injury during practice on March 11, as he was working his way back following a non-surgical procedure on January 7. He underwent a medical examination and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) on March 25, which revealed a cartilage injury in his left knee. He is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on April 2. Plumlee is expected to be available for training camp.

With Plumlee ruled out for the remainder of this season, Dewayne Dedmon and Alex Len will likely continue to soak up the majority of the minutes at the center position.

The Hawks (26-48 and 5th in the Southeast Division standings) will be back in action on Tuesday night, when they'll travel to New Orleans for a match-up against the Pelicans (31-44 and 3rd in the Southwest Division). Tip-off inside the Smoothie King Center is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
