Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young may have just punched his ticket to the GOAT conversation after his historic 49-point, 16-assist performance against the Chicago Bulls. With that stat-line, Young joined Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James as the only rookies to notch 40-plus points and 10-plus assists in a single game in the last 40 seasons, per SportsCenter.

Kidding aside the GOAT talks, Young still had a very special night.

In fact, it was so special that if we wanted to put Ice Trae alone in his own universe under the NBA record books, he would be the only rookie to score 45-plus points and dish out 15-plus assists in a single game. Young also came one point shy of becoming the only rookie to have 50-plus points and 10-plus assists in a game.

Unfortunately, despite his special night, the Hawks came up short as they ultimately fell to the Bulls in the 4OT thriller, 168-161. Young played a game high 56 minutes. He shot 17-of-33 from the field and made six triples on the night.

Young, who was the fifth overall pick in this year's draft, followed up his impressive month of February with arguably the best game of his career. He averaged 23.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 9.3 assists in that month, as those numbers earned him the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month for February.

Young has been especially hot over his past three games. He eclipsed the 30-point plateau in those three contests, and has been connecting on 48.7 percent of his shots from the field and 53.3 percent from deep. Over that span, the Oklahoma standout is averaging 40.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 11.3 assists.

People who have locked in Dallas Mavericks sensation Luka Doncic as Rookie of the Year might have to reconsider their choice. Young's special run is definitely giving him a run for top rookie honors this season.
