Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade says he “had to bring a championship to Miami” with the way the fans embraced him when he was drafted by the team in 2003.

Wade won three titles with the Heat, capturing his first in 2006 with Shaquille O'Neal by his side. D-Wade won two more rings in South Beach with LeBron James and Chris Bosh.

“A kid from inner city Chicago to have a whole state say, ‘We believe in you.' You know what I'm saying, [it] felt like home,” Wade said in a sit-down with rapper Rick Ross. “So I had to bring a championship, we had to bring a championship to Miami. There was no other way.”

As we all know, Dwyane Wade is the best player in Heat franchise history. Wade is the all-time leader in games played, field goals, free-throws, assists, steals and points.

Wade will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer one day. He finished his NBA career with averages of 22.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 1,054 games with the Heat, Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers. Wade made the All-Star team 13 times, an All-NBA team eight times and was the 2006 Finals MVP.

The Heat will retire Wade's No. 3 jersey. He will go down as maybe the most popular athlete in the history of Florida sports.
