Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra says rookie Tyler Herro will have to “earn everything” in Miami.

The Heat have one of the best cultures in the NBA. Spoelstra believes as long as Herro commits to getting better every day, he will flourish with the Heat.

“Every team is different, like every young player is different,” Spoelstra told Shandel Richardson of The Athletic. “So, it would be too difficult to predict if he will be brought along like Bam (Adebayo) and Justise (Winslow).

“The thing I can guarantee is that he is going to have to commit to improvement, and he is going to have to earn everything. Justise and Bam had to learn how to contribute to veteran teams in short bursts. You do that by building trust with your consistent approach, work ethic and willingness to learn. Then, eventually, you earn it with your production with whatever minutes you are given. We feel it is the best way for our young players to ultimately grow and develop, when they understand from day one that the main thing is impacting winning, and that has to be earned.”

Tyler Herro showed off his scoring and shooting ability during Summer League play. The Heat are excited to see how the youngster reacts to NBA competition once the regular season starts.

Herro has to be prepared to play for the Heat every game even though there are going to be a lot of nights where he doesn't see the floor. Staying ready physically and mentally is a big skill in the pros.
