Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics barely edged the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, setting up a battle against the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals. Tatum won the first-ever Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP thanks to his efforts.

After the thrilling game, which almost saw the Heat pull off a miracle comeback in the final minutes, Kyle Lowry delivered a strong message to Tatum about the Finals:

This was a special moment for Tatum, who finally broke through to the NBA Finals after coming up short in two prior trips to the Eastern Conference Finals. That, of course, included a six-game loss to the Heat in the bubble.

Tatum honored Kobe Bryant for this Game 7 and delivered a stellar performance, going for 26 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in the 100-96 win. For the series, the Celtics star averaged 25.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists while shooting 46.2% from the field and 35.3% from 3-point range.

Boston will now face another major challenge in the Warriors, who cruised through their Western Conference Finals series against the Dallas Mavericks. Celtics-Warriors should be a doozy, and Tatum will try to win his first Finals MVP.

Meanwhile, Lowry and the Heat are heading home heartbroken after nearly pulling off a miracle. Lowry struggled with a hamstring injury in these playoffs and looked awful at times, but he gutted things out to end this series and nearly helped Miami pull off a shocking comeback. Lowry is an NBA champion who knows what it takes to win it all, so him delivering this message to Tatum means a little something extra.
