The Miami Heat are prioritizing 2021 cap space to chase Giannis Antetokounmpo, with Victor Oladipo among the backup plans, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Heat told Jimmy Butler this past summer they will be aggressive in trying to land another star in the future.

The Heat are enamored with Washington Wizards All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal, but Beal signed an extension with the Wizards. However, Miami can still try to acquire the sharpshooter if the Wizards falter and finally make Beal available in trade talks.

Antetokounmpo signed a four-year, $100 million extension with the Bucks in 2016. Milwaukee can offer Giannis the supermax extension next summer. If the MVP declines it, Antetokounmpo can become an unrestricted free agent in 2021 and the Heat would have Butler and president Pat Riley right at his front door, recruiting him to beautiful Miami.

Oladipo has one season left on his contract with the Indiana Pacers after the 2019-20 season ends. He has yet to play this season due to the injury he suffered last season.

Riley is one of the most aggressive executives we have in the NBA. He'll do anything to get another superstar on the Heat to pair with Butler. Only time will tell if Riley can make it happen.
