The Kevin Durant trade sweepstakes have dominated the NBA offseason so far. Every team is interested, but Durant has a small list of teams he would be willing to join. One of the teams on that list is the Miami Heat.

The Heat are looking for ways to improve their team after they came up short in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics last season. One surefire way to improve is to acquire one of the most dominant scorers in the league in Durant.

Miami is clearly interested, but it remains to be seen whether or not they will be able to meet the Brooklyn Nets' demands for Durant. One thing that's clear, however, is that the front office is doing everything they can to land Durant.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Heat GM Andy Elisburg and Nets GM Sean Marks were seen chatting in Las Vegas Monday morning (presumably about Durant) as the Heat continue to do whatever they can to land the star forward:

Adding Durant to Miami's core group would make them a surefire championship contender. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo have led the Heat to two of the last three Eastern Conference Finals, and the addition of Durant could push them over the top.

The problem is any move for Durant would involve the Heat parting with a ton of assets, and reports have said the Nets are going to want Adebayo in any deal for Durant. That may prove to be too steep a price for Miami, and there is also an NBA rule that states Brooklyn can't acquire Adebayo without trading Ben Simmons.

Miami has a lot of options this offseason to improve themselves, but acquiring Durant may be their best option. The Heat may ultimately not be able to add Durant, but they are going to do everything they can before they give up.
