Dwyane Wade made an unforeseen return to the Miami Heat last season, getting traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers at the trade deadline, finding a window back into his eventually preferred destination after the Cavs chose to go a different direction.

Yet the 36-year-old shooting guard said that he would mull his future over the offseason, but president Pat Riley has had some limited contact with his former franchise star.

“I haven’t talked to Dwyane,” said Riley, according to Anthony Chiang of The Palm Beach Post. “I’ve talked to his agent. I think now over the next nine days between now and July the 1st, now we can focus on all these things. We’ve shared texts. He’s communicated on a regular basis with a lot of people in the organization, but nothing has been decided with Dwyane. We want to have Dwyane back obviously, but there’s been no discussion about next year.”

Wade offered a decent scoring punch coming off the bench for the Heat, including a game-winner that made the American Airlines Arena get on its feet, reliving some vintage glory.

Though it's clear that the Heat have other plans in their starting lineup with the likes of Dion Waiters and Josh Richardson taking precedent.

If Wade chooses to come back, it'll have to be on a friendly deal, as the Heat made a multitude of long-term signings last summer, forcing them into a relatively quiet one this time around.
