With the NBA Trade Deadline now firmly in the rear-view mirror, trade talks in the league have become strictly hypothetical. One absurd NBA trade rumor surfaced on Sunday, as Chris Broussard revealed a conversation he had with “somebody who works in the league.” Broussard and his source apparently discussed the possibility of a wild Los Angeles Lakers-Miami Heat trade involving superstars Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo.

Broussard pitched a potential swap of AD in exchange for the talented Heat duo, wildly suggesting that Miami owner Pat Riley “likes stars” so “he might do that.”

We're really not sure why the Heat would ever entertain offloading their two best players in exchange for the injury-prone Davis, especially after how the 2021-22 season has played out thus far, but Broussard insists it's something Riley would consider. Even Adebayo for Davis in a one-for-one swap seems like it would benefit the Lakers far more than the Heat at this point, so Broussard's suggestion is particularly heinous.

Davis has struggled with injury in 2021-22, having already missed 21 of the Lakers' 58 games. He's due for another extended stint on the sideline after injuring his ankle over the weekend, further putting LA's chances of reaching the playoffs in jeopardy.

While Davis has failed to stay on the court this season, Adebayo and Butler have been leading the charge in Miami, with the team sitting at 38-21, tied for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Butler is enjoying a great year for the Heat, averaging 21.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists, while Adebayo is contributing 18.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per night.
