Heat star Jimmy Butler has missed several weeks due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Since his absence, Miami has struggled to find its footing in the Eastern Conference this season. Although it is not confirmed whether Butler tested positive for covid, there seem to have been some effects on his body during his time away from his team.

According to Ethan J. Skolnick, Butler has lost a total of 12 pounds during his time away from the Heat.

During his return to the bench in Miami’s game against the Clippers, numerous insiders notice how Butler looks slimmer compared to when he was last on the floor. This could only mean a good or bad thing for Butler and the Heat. He could have done the weight loss to return in better shape or his alleged positive case of covid could have effected him in a strong way.

Butler is coming off of a strong playoff run in the bubble last season. His experience and gritty play was a huge asset in leading the Heat to the NBA Finals.

This season has been a struggle to say the least, Butler has played six games and has averaged 15.8 points on the season. His goal in coming back to the court for the Heat is to continue to guide his younger teammates and put them in a position for success.

Butler is expected to return very soon. As the Miami Heat stand at 6-11, the team definitely wants to shift momentum back in their favor. With Butler’s return to the roster, there is a chance that can happen.
