The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Quincy Williams in the third-round (98th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. Things have been going good for the rookie so far, as he's made a great impression in minicamp.

Everything is being ramped up to 11 now, as Calais Campbell compared Williams to superstar Marcell Dareus in an article by Daniel Popper of The Athletic.

“He’s a playmaker. He finds the ball. To me, instincts are where you can find the ball. When it’s not your play to make, you still know how to get over the top of it and still know how to get to where the ball is. Marcell Dareus’s best (attribute) is that he has incredible instincts. He just has a nose for the ball. It finds him, it seems like. Quincy has some of those same characteristics. He’s not on Marcell’s level. Marcell is at a different level. But he might be one day. He’s a rookie. He’s just scratching the surface.”

This is no light comparison. Marcell Dareus is the type of player you'd want to have a bunch of on a team. This is pretty in-depth too. Calais Campbell didn't just go out there and say “Quincy Williams is a playmaker like Marcell Dareus. No no, he dug deep.

Dareus is a playmaker, he has the instincts you want and has a nose for the ball. According to Campbell, he sees a lot of those same things in Williams.

He was also wise to hamper expectations. Just because he believes Williams is a lot like Dareus, you should expect the same player immediately.

Dareus is one of the best defensive players in the NFL. Williams, on the other hand, is a third-round rookie who's yet to play a snap in the NFL. They aren't on the same stratosphere.

Things can change quickly though. If Williams has the talent and instincts that Campbell believes he does, he could be a major impact player. When that happens, he'll get more snaps and make more plays. It's a cycle that could build him into a star.

Another thing going for Williams is the defense he's joining. The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of strong pieces in place, making life a little easier for a rookie.

Will Quincy Williams ever turn out to be just like Marcell Dareus? That's tough to tell. If you ask Calais Campbell though, he has the makeup for it.
