The Jacksonville Jaguars stumbled to yet another disappointing loss on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, which has pushed the franchise to make some changes to push things back in the right direction.

This included the team moving on from offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as part of the moves to shake things up with head coach Doug Marrone taking over playcalling duties moving forward this season. With that in mind, wide receiver Dede Westbrook has voiced that he believes the team had let down Hackett that led to his firing, according to John Oehser of jaguars.com.

“He calls the plays, he has great game plans every week and it’s up to us as players to execute that,” Westbrook said of Hackett. “I feel like we let him down and we let the team down by not executing.”

The Jaguars have struggled to find any level of consistency on the offensive side of the ball this entire season that has contributed greatly to their seven-game losing streak. This has seen them rank among the bottom tier in the league offensively being 22nd overall and in passing along with ranking 16th in rushing. Granted, their offensive success has been largely depended on star running back Leonard Fournette anchoring the run game, quarterback Blake Bortles has struggled to find any consistency on the field.

Bortles has been a liability at times throwing the ball that has put their offense in a tougher bind, which was more evident when Fournette was sidelined with a hamstring injury. This has now led to him being benched for Week 13 action against the Indianapolis Colts in favor of backup Cody Kessler. It has been an entire situation that has become more disappointing as the season has rolled along.

Ultimately, there could be some significant changes ahead beyond just a new offensive coordinator next offseason.
