Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver DJ Chark suffered a concussion during his team's 22-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins during their third preseason game on Thursday night, according to the team.

Chark suffered the injury while returning a kickoff after taking a knee while stumbling.

Whether or not this impacts Chark's ability to play in the Jaguars' season opener on Sept. 8 remains to be seen.

Chark, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by Jacksonville in the second round (61st pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He played in 11 games during his rookie year, logging just 14 catches for 174 yards.

However, in spite of his minimal impact in 2018, there has been a lot of optimism surrounding Chark heading into this season, with some expecting him to be a key contributor in the Jags' passing game.

Chark wasn't overly productive at LSU, as his best season came during his senior year at the school when he hauled in 40 receptions for 874 yards and three touchdowns, but due to his combination of size and athleticism, he was considered one of the top wide receivers prospects entering the 2018 draft.

The 22-year-old is part of a Jaguars receiving corps that also includes Dede Westbrook, Marqise Lee, Chris Conley and Keelan Cole, and while that group is very unproven, it certainly has potential and is worth monitoring, especially with a new quarterback in Nick Foles under center.

Jacksonville is coming off of a disappointing 2018 campaign in which it won just five games, one year after winning 10 games and making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.
