After seeing several of his highlight reels throughout the first half of this season, Indiana Pacers swingman Glenn Robinson III says Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell should be considered for the NBA's 2018 Slam Dunk Contest in Los Angeles, California.

As most hoops fans know, Robinson, now 24 years of age, won last season's Dunk Contest. However, he's currently recovering from left ankle surgery.

Near courtside, Robinson watched as Mitchell went through pregame drills ahead of Utah's game against the Pacers on Monday night.

“Definitely. Just based off the highlights that I’ve seen and just watching his game. I like his game,” Robinson said. “I know a lot of people do and a lot of fans is excited and that’s the most important part. So I think that he definitely is going to be on that list to be in it.

“Unfortunately I can’t do it this year because of my ankle but I would love to get back in it but it was a helluva experience for me,” Robinson added. “Last year, going down there I was kind of the underdog and people didn’t expect for me to win it or didn’t know what I had in storage but (Donovan’s) got some bunnies so he will come up with something.”

Although this season's Dunk Contest participants are yet to be released, Mitchell seemed to be accepting of the idea.

“It would be great, but I haven’t paid any attention to that whatsoever,” Mitchell told the Deseret News in December. “Not even the whole weekend. That’s not even been in my head at all.”

In his 41 games played for the Jazz this season, Mitchell, 21, has turned in averages of 18.9 points on 44.0 percent shooting from the field (34.9 percent from beyond the arc), 3.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds.

The 2018 All-Star festivities will be held at the Staples Center, beginning on Friday, Feb. 16 (Celebrity and Rising Stars Games). The Slam Dunk Contest, which Mitchell could be a part of, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17. And finally, the 67th NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 18.
