To say the Utah Jazz have gone through some growing pains this season would be a massive understatement. The same issues that plagued them during the regular season have largely been prevalent in their first-round series against the Dallas Mavericks.

While they were outplayed by a Mavs side that didn't have Luka Doncic in their first three contests, they somehow find themselves tied at 2-2 with a legitimate chance to bury their recent demons.

It's poetic that their Game 4 win came via an improbable comeback in the closing minute capped off by a Donovan Mitchell to Rudy Gobert alley-oop. Forget their recent history of blowing leads and the chemistry issues centered around the two Jazz All-Stars. They've tied the series and have an equal chance to advance.

Minority owner Dwyane Wade spoke out on the two hooking up for the game-winning basket. He's fully aware of the drama surrounding the Jazz but knows there's a deeper level to it than the narrative suggests.

Via ESPN's Tim MacMahon:

“Talk is talk. At the end of the day, those guys have a respect for each other, man,” Jazz minority owner Dwyane Wade, the NBA legend who Mitchell considers a mentor, told ESPN. “I just love how we trust each other as a team down the stretch.

“Rudy making those big plays coming from Don was obviously big, but a lot of [the discussion about their relationship] was outside noise, too. It's just good to see them execute like that and for the two star players on our team to trust each other in that space like that.”

The Utah Jazz have had their struggles this season and this series, but Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and the rest of the team can't dwell on that. They just need to win the next two out of three.
