With the Utah Jazz currently in a state of flux, the fan base is in search of a silver lining. Fortunately, they may have gotten it with a positive update on center Rudy Gobert.
Gobert sustained a knee injury last month after a collision with teammate and power forward Derrick Favors. However, the Jazz announced that both Gobert and point guard Raul Neto have now taken part in the non-contact portion of practice, according to Kyle Goon of The Salt Lake Tribune:
The Jazz say that both Raul Neto and Rudy Gobert have begun participating in non-contact portions of practice, but are still considered OUT for tomorrow’s game.
Needless to say, the news certainly gives fans a reason to be optimistic. Although Gobert and Neto have been ruled out for Friday night's tilt versus the Charlotte Hornets, their current designation indicates they could be set to return in the near future.
It has been rough 2017-18 NBA season for Gobert, to say the least. Just when he had returned from one knee injury, he suffered another not even two weeks later. It was reported that he was expected to come back at some point in the middle of January, which means there has not been any sort of hindrance to his rehabilitation.
Needless to say, Gobert's presence has been greatly missed by the Jazz after having dropped nine of the last 12 games in his absence. Meanwhile, the return of Neto will also give the Utah backcourt some much-needed depth outside rookie shooting guard Donovan Mitchell.
