With an 8-10 record to start the season, it's safe to say that the Utah Jazz needs to address their problems on both ends of the court. Jazz star center Rudy Gobert suggests that Utah's solution to their recent woes starts by addressing his own inconsistency.

Tony Jones of The Athletic wrote about the Jazz' disappointing start, including Gobert's initiative to take the blame for his team.

“I think it starts with me,” Gobert said. “These guys need me. I have to show up and bring the intensity, and I think tonight I did it, but not all the time. Even in those nights, I have to show the example. Those guys rely on me, so I have to do my job first, and then we will be fine.”

Now on his sixth season in the league, Gobert is having career-highs in both points and rebounds with 15.1 and 12.9, respectively. However, the 2018 Defensive Player of the Year is still reiterating that he has been largely inconsistent and that is something the team cannot afford right now.

After a 48-34 finish last year, many predicted that the Jazz would be one of the darkhorse contenders in the West. But Utah has now lost four of their last five games, mainly because of the team's defensive woes.

While his numbers don't really show his inconsistency, it's certainly admirable how Gobert has been handling the leadership mantle for the Jazz. But to be fair to the French big man, his teammates have been inconsistent as well. Donovan Mitchell is going through the so-called ‘sophomore slump', while the team is looking disorganized on the defense as well.
