The Utah Jazz signed second-round selection Nigel Williams-Goss to a three-year contract, but reportedly the 2017 draft pick had suitors.

Per Tony Jones of The Athletic, two teams were interested in the 6-foot-3 guard's draft rights.

The Jazz selected Williams-Goss out of Gonzaga with the 25th pick in the second round (55th overall) in 2017. Williams-Goss, however, never signed a deal with the franchise and instead found professional basketball employment overseas, competing for Serbian club KK Partizan and most recently Greek team Olympiacos.

Williams-Goss played two years collegiately at the University of Washington before transferring for his junior season at Gonzaga. He was a consensus All-American second team honoree and made the Pac-12 second team in 2017.

He averaged 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game while shooting 46.4% from the floor, 33.1% from 3-point range, and 80.6% from the free throw line in college.

Jones adds that the Jazz believed the “best thing to do” was to sign Williams-Goss, a 24-year-old two years removed from his draft class.

The addition of Williams-Goss, along with signing Ed Davis, Jeff Green, Bojan Bogdonavic, and Emmanuel Mudiay will bring Utah's roster total to over the league's minimum requirement of 13. The Jazz can carry up to 15 players into the season, notwithstanding two two-way players. Up to 20 players can be invited to training camp in the fall, however.

Williams-Goss averaged 10.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in 53 appearances during the 2018-19 season, including shooting 42.3% from the field, 38.4% from long range, and 84.5% from the charity stripe.
