After missing the Cowboys‘ Week 4 game against the 49ers because of a hairline fracture in his right knee, Dez Bryant could return this Sunday against Cincinnati.

Bryant dodged a more serious injury in Week 3, and the current one can't get any worse by playing. That's why Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is optimistic.

From Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

“I wouldn’t rule him out against Cincinnati,” Jones said. “[Our medical staff] said when he can push off, he can play, then he’s ready to go. He’s not going to exacerbate that injury.

“So, I think it’s strictly up to how he gets out. If he can do some work this week, then that might mean he can do more on Friday. If he can do that kind of thing, then he might be in line.”

Bryant was unable to practice last week; doing so in the coming days will be vital to his availability.

Dallas could really use him, too. Beating San Francisco is one thing, but topping a stout Bengals defense will be a much taller task.

Of course, only an effective Bryant is worth playing. If he's below 100% by a significant amount, pushing him this early in the season is not worth it for the Cowboys.
