New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell may not have played football in over a year, and he may be on a brand new team in a new system, but Jets head coach Adam Gase is confident that he will be just fine, saying that he will “adapt very quickly,” according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Gase did add that Bell “lost a little bit” by not participating in New York's voluntary offseason workouts, but he does not seem to think that it will have much of an adverse effect on Bell moving forward.

Bell signed a four-year, $52 million deal with the Jets at the beginning of free agency.

The 27-year-old sat out the entire 2018 campaign as a result of a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and in 2017, he held out through training camp for the same reason and eventually returned in Week 2.

That season overall, Bell racked up 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging four yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 85 receptions for 655 yards and a couple of scores en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Bell, who played his collegiate football at Michigan State, was originally selected by the Steelers in the second round (48th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

After a quiet rookie campaign, Bell broke out during his second year, totaling 1,361 yards and eight scores while registering 4.7 yards per attempt. He also caught 83 passes for 854 yards and three touchdowns, making his first Pro Bowl and notching First-Team All-Pro honors in the process.

Bell also made the Pro Bowl in 2016.
